We were very generously invited to stay at Cromlix, the most fabulous hotel owned by Andy & Kim Murray which is just outside Dunblane (aprox an hour drive from Edinburgh).
From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed, at home and incredibly welcome. The perfect contrast to a busy couple of days in Edinburgh. The hotel has very recently been refurbished and is utterly stunning. Every last detail has been thought about.
We were lucky enough to stay in the Clematis Suite which was huge and utterly beautiful! It felt so luxurious and extremely comfortable.
Dinner was absolutely delicious with cocktails and canapés to start. Breakfast was a feast. The whisky creme brûlée porridge was an absolute must!! There was a Bloody Mary station too which was a nice touch if you fancied it.
There is so much to see and do at Cromlix. It has 34 acres of land, a loch, tennis courts (of course), a fabulous billiards room, and beautiful gardens to explore. Some of the Murray’s private art collection adorns the walls in the hotel including some Damien Hirst pieces.
We have been fortunate enough to stay in lots of beautiful hotels, and what we have learnt over time is that there is so much more to making a hotel exceptional than just good food, nice decor and elaborate architecture. A hotel has to have a heart, warmth and good energy and that is largely created by its team… and that is absolutely what has been created at Cromlix, a fabulous, friendly, attentive team who immediately make you feel at home and part of the family.

What a brilliant day we had yesterday exploring Edinburgh. The sun shone & it was totally glorious!
We were very kindly invited on a really interesting tour of the @holyrooddistillery. It was fascinating! The Holyrood Distillery only opened in 2019 but they already seem to have mastered the art of making a wide range of delicious whiskys & gins. The distillery is on the east side of the city, slightly away from the main tourist area so it a great option if you want to get slightly off the beaten track. The distillery bar has a huge picture window with the most incredible view of has Arthur’s Seat (for all of the One Day fan’s!) which makes it the perfect place to enjoy a tipple or two!
